I know there are a lot of knitters, here. I want to crochet a couple of simple afghans to go on our beds this winter (I can tell the first trimester is over when I bought quilt fabric and decided to crochet two afghans in the same day!). I haven't done anything with yarn in awhile. Is there a good place to buy good quality yarn online? I could go to a store, too, but I don't know my new city that well and I assume the regular chains don't have the best prices. I'm thinking I want 100% wool and I want to use a triple strand for each stitch so I'll need a LOT of yarn.
Additionally, if any more experienced yarn crafters can estimate how many skeins we're talking for a king-sized and toddler-sized afghan, that would be great information. This might turn out to be a prohibitively expensive project.

Susan,
Best yarn online (great prices, good quality, fast service) is Knit Picks.
Another good one is Yarn Barn or Elann.

Mary beat me to it. I was going to suggest Knit Picks as well.

What Mary said. I also sometimes use Patternworks, but Knit Picks has the *best* prices!
I'm trying to use up my stash at the moment. It's gotten crazy full, with lots of scraps. I'm actually having some fun with it - and looking forward to finding out if I should be knitting for a little lass or a little lad - always a great incentive for me.
Blessings,
