Just a heads up for all those who are anywhere near Manassas on Sunday ...
I'll be knitting at the Fair from 5:30-8:00 p.m. It's supposed to be sensational weather and the Fair is supposed to be fabulous.
Stop on by and say "howdy"

Have fun, Mary!
We just sent our entries in to the The Great Geauga County Fair.
It is the oldest continuously running fair in Ohio and a great, great time.
We aren't entering any animals but ds will help his friend show her rabbit. I always enter some photography(some day soon I will share with my 4Real friends--just nervous about starting a blog), my dh is entering his banana bread and some cookies in the men's only baking, ds is entering a drawing, a photograph, and his coin collection, and dd will part with her favorite doll for 5 days, the doll dressed in her very cute pink overalls.
I love fair time.
Anne

Oh, I'll really try to come by, since it's just around my house! I just saw the sign for the fair and I was making a mental note to go with the family.
And Rachel, if you CAN make it up here, please let me know! I want to meet you!

and I am SOOOO looking forward to that!
I love Fairs -- we used to go to the State Fair in Raleigh every year and had such a blast. Particularly fun when we'd go with my BIL as he went to view goats and pigs and stuff to buy and we learned so much about animals that way. (Except Catie wanted us to buy a goat and keep for the uncles until they needed her !)
We haven't been to a fair in a while ... but the PWC looks like fun AND the kids got free passes from the reading program at the library ... so it's a cheap "date".

Fun! We just moved to Minnesota (where dh grew up) and we're gearing up for my first ever real state fair. Our 3yo son is beside himself with excitement. I confess I'm pretty excited, too. We're wondering how many things "on a stick" we should try to eat . . .

Oh mary! My MIL used to work the kitchen at that fair every year, and this is the first year she isn't! I would have told her to look you up.
I hope the weather is nice for you! Enjoy the fair!

And she did ... and we met and talked knitting! What a great gal Leah is!
The weather kept many folks away ... but do try and go for those who haven't yet. County fairs are so low-key and wonderful (even if the food and rides are "wicked" expensive! )
The kids and Rick got to see the Rodeo and now they all want to enter next year ... well, not Rick so much

Oh, I am completely and utterly bummed. I missed both of you! Right in my own backyard and I had the day confused.
I love county fairs. Our highlight is the animals, especially the 4-H displays. We usually like to go to a few in Pennsylvania.

So, did they see the bucking horse get loose? Thankfully we were in search of a funnel cake; we were standing right there!
I do recommend everyone go! We had a blast! And Mary G and sweet Kate definitely inspired my Adeline to knit!

We have gone to the PWC Fair every year since we moved here, and this is the first year we decided to skip it . It used to be free (entrance and ride all day) for the kids if they did the local library program, but now it's just a free pass in the gate and you have to pay for the rides. It was soooooooo expensive last year ! I have to say I'm missing it as much as the kids, though. We'll especially miss it "demolition derby" night. We live close enough to hear it and it will be a reminder that it's there without us . Oh well. Maybe next year.

Oh, you bring back some very fond memories. I grew up in Nokesville, VA and we went to the Prince William County Fair EVERY year! My brothers had animals they showed (horses, cows). I remember my mom taking them dinner every night since they actually lived in the barns there all week with the animals. And my mom and sisters were always entering something they sewed or canned or grew in the garden.
Hope you had a great time! This really makes me miss home!
