Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Today I posted some pictures of a few baby gifts I've knitted for friends and family. It is so fun to knit for babies!

Beautiful! I have been totally inspired to splurge on the Knitter's Almanac by several different people. I think its a sign! I want to make that Baby Surprise sweater. Is it difficult? It looks intense.

Betsie, this is about the 3rd baby surprise jacket I've made. I still have to use a spreadsheet (found somewhere on the web) that I follow line by line. This one was easier for some reason, but I wouldn't say it is hard. Truly, it's just knitting back and forth, on one piece, then you fold it to turn it into the jacket. EZ was truly genious in her knitting. I would reccomend Knitter's Almanac highly. Sometimes I read it just because it's fun to read and I think you'd like it. I also love The Knitter's Workshop by EZ. I'd love to have that on DVD someday.....

ETA: Mary.....thank you! I consider you to be a fantastic knitter, so your comment really touched me

I too re-read all EZ's books. Her
Almanac is still one of the BEST knitting books; as is her Knitting Without Tears is a classic and the one that got me really knitting when I was little and gave me the guts to "design" as a pre-teen! Even after all these years of reading and re-reading, I almost always find something to help my knitting ....

I learned on Knitting Without Tears (after beginning with my Nana) too!!

Anyone got a newborn hat pattern that they love (figured this was the right place to come _!!A friend has just asked me to make her one. I wanted to use a soft cotton wool.

Now, if ever I can finish these socks!!!

Our library doesn't have the Opinionated Knitter and Knitting Workshop has a couple holds....off to try our local yarn shop (that pattern is just too tantalizing )

Liz,
I love your baby surprise! I think you have finally motivated me to try one. Those slippers are adorable, too!

Still pining after the baby surprise jacket...may have to swallow the shipping charges and order it.

Another way to get the pattern is to order from Schoolhouse Press. You would get just that pattern and they ship it fast. I did this when I was saving for the books. HTH
