Please, please....pray for this family: A single mother named Lynn had just one son, P.J. (age 19) whom I babysat for when he was around 8yrs. old and who was a great friend of my 19 y.o. ds for many years. P.J. was killed Friday night in a senseless shooting, apparantly by a friend during an argument. I don't know what happened to the dad during the time we haven't been in contact but his name is Phil.

Thank you for your prayers and intercession for the Pierces. I went to the funeral today. Earlier in the week P.j.'s mom Lynn called and we talked for a few minutes. It's been ten years since we saw them so she told me what kind of a boy he turned out to be; funny, popular (he had tons of friends and they seemed to genuinely love him), helpful to a fault.

Guess what else she told me? I knew she was a lapsed Catholic when I lived near her. But she never had P.J. baptized. Oh how this has grieved me. I know this is a big favor, but if you haven't turned in your All Souls Masses (if you have them at your parish) would you please include him or have a Mass said for him? His name is Philip Pierce.

And if you have been to a secular funeral for a child lately, you know how strongly children are struggling for meaning in this world. They are part of a generation that could have easily been killed for $350...but they sense they have more value than that. They are so angry at the killing but they don't know what to do. They need the sacraments......please pray for them.

Praying, Gwen. I'll try and have Philip's name added to our All Souls list. So sad.
