Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

In my drive to get us eating healthier (and hopefully, cheaper ), I was wondering if anyone has a good mail order source for whole grains, flours, seeds, nuts, etc.

I get the King Arthur catalog, but there prices aren't great (and shipping is atrocious!).

Any other resources out there?

Shipping through walton feed would probably be too much pkus they have a wait time.. but my friend in TX found bob's red mill to be very affordable even with the distance.

Bread Beckers has a co-op in your area I think. I like their prices and they offer a very nice variety (but not a really easily navigable website imo). I've ordered from them before - we will be co-op'ing through them.

Thanks Jodie and Jennifer! I really like Bob's Red Mill products, but the local stores don't carry everything ... I might try them.

And the Bread Beckers co-op looks very nice .... checking it out after my morning on 4real!

Mary,
Call me. I'm about to place a co-op order to quailcovefarms.com. They'll deliver to my house next week. I know it's not mail order, but in the end, it might be a good deal cheaper, especially if you're going to order in bulk.

I second Bob's red mill! I also order through breadbeckers(though when I have some empty buckets I will probably go through BRM because its a tad cheaper even with shipping).

I'm glad Elizabeth told you about Quail Cove and Jennifer about Breadbeckers. The co-op is really the least expensive way to go. I once wanted to order grains through Breadbeckers and the shipping was more than the grains. Breadbeckers also comes to the big home education conference in Richmond every year. I have in the past stocked up down there for the year. Not helpful for you this year though.

Very interesting news, Katie!! Thank you for sharing! I'm going to look more closely at Bob's Red Mill now. Glad I still have a little time to comparison shop!

I have found out that the shipping(on the retail side for BRM-you can get wholesale prices if you order more then 300lbs but then shipping is based on weight which negates the savings for me) is by product price NOT weight! So that makes a big difference. I did a lot of calculating before I placed my last Bread Beckers order and that is what I came up with(and I am saving my buckets!)! Also BRM has a lot more choices. One thing you can only buy I think 250lbs per order from the retail side but you can do multiple orders. Glad I could help!!

I'll third Bob's. We carry his stuff in our co-op. He's got some GF choices in there, too.

Blessings,
