Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

OK, this is just for fun... I once heard a friend say that when her husband brings in the trash cans before he leaves for work in the morning it is the equivalent of giving her a dozen roses... some time ago someone posted that her husband buying her a book was the equivalent of bringing home flowers... so what does your husband do for you that is as good as, or better than if he had brought home a dozen roses??
I'd have to say fixing my coffee for me before he leaves for work is it.
Anyone else?

oh there's so many things roses are pretty far down my list of desired gifts anyway

I think it would have to be things like helping me get caught up on things that got away from me during the day.. so doing dishes or picking up the floor.

When he calls me on the way home from work and asks if there is anything I need from the store. So sweet and thoughtful of him.

On a Sunday afternoon, when he takes the big kids to the park so the toddler and I can nap...

oh this one -- me too!

and cleans the bathrooms.

and my fave: hubby never fails to give me one single rose every month on our month-iversary, before we go on our dinner date.

here's a twist to this question. ask your kids what THEIR favorite thing is that their dad does for mom. my kids almost made me cry with their answers. they SEE and remember things! i have a feeling they'll be quite picky about their future spouses.

Taking time out of his very busy schedule to give me his undivided attention and letting me talk a blue streak. Way better than roses imo.

When he tells me he loves me first!

I say "I love you" a lot...it's not quite as easy for my dh so usually he's saying "I love you too". I love those times when he spontaneously says it.

I practically swoon when he organizes the kids for chores or projects, and I'm putty when he disciplines those rough and rowdy boys.

Trimming hedges without being asked...and doing dishes when I've cooked dinner.

My husband really enjoys cooking, and I realized once that I don't cook dinner on the weekends! Also, if he comes home while I'm making dinner, he'll step in and finish the job for me. I'm glad-- he's such a better cook than me!!

A current example - I am going to be gone Sat morn to Sun night - he will have the kids. He has offered to spend the night at his Grandma's house with the kids so that my house will stay clean! That is the most romantic thing ever! :)

My dh made maps for us to use on our trip and emailed them to me. The poor guy is not even able to go on the trip with us.....he's in Kuwait.

I really take so much for granted! My husband calls every night on the way home to offer to stop for groceries. He also does almost all of the cooking on weekends! That's a few dozen roses, I'd say!

Chris, I would say that the surprise of a hot fudge sundae brought home secretly after all the children are asleep beats a dozen roses. :)

Mine too! He loves to cook.

My dh also insists that I make an annual Ignatian retreat every autumn. Peace and quiet for me while he shoulders Mommy-duty. What a guy!

And can I just add...he supports me as a stay-at-home/hsing mom and defends "our" choice to others.

And I tell him often how grateful I am that he was open to the children that God has given us.

And he lets me sleep late...

Okay...I'll shut up before everybody thinks we own a florist shop.
