Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We used PLL last year, and they loved it. When it came time for the "yearly tests" though, dds did not know what subjects and predicates were. Though they could identify them after a definition was given.

We were planning to use ILL this year, but I am wondering if we need a "Language" book to learn the parts of speech, sentence diagramming etc.. Or--am I not using PLL/Ill corectly? I see where MODG uses ILL, so that leads me to believe it is enough. Your thoughts?

I guess it depends on your philosophy. We tend to the Better Late than Early/Moore's viewpoint. I use these books through the 6th grade. In the 6th grade, I also add Easy Grammar, but before that, this is all I use for language study (we do separate spelling and extra copywork/narrations as they come up in other subjects). If intensive grammar is important to you, this isn't the way to go...Seton has the most intensive grammar program I'm aware of...

Thanks, Books. I agree with The Better Late than Early ideas, too, but the testing thing threw me off. I don't know why I don't trust my instint in these things.....
