Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Tonight is the "Turn about" swim meet, parents swim and the kids work the meet. I can't believe I agreed to swim. Well I can't believe I agreed to get in a swim suit in front of so many folks! I am praying the expected storms come in soon .

Off to swim events like as far as you can fly, rubber ducky herding and the noodle race.......not to mention the family relay.

What crazy thing have you done lately? And Irene you better be there!

OH that sounds like fun Mary Chris.. of course I have the excuse of a new baby to keep me out of it

Most of the meets around here have something like a parent relay on Saturday after the last of the official events that day.

Reading this made me think I'm an old stick-in-the-mud. I haven't done anything crazy lately. Maybe I should.

Have fun!

Have fun tonight Mary Chris!

Over the weekend, our family went biking on a rail trail. (A converted rail track) I took a stroller for the baby and my husband had a bike with a buggy for the 2 year old. Well, the four year old melted down. So, she went in the buggy(along with the 2 year old and the stroller) and I put the baby in a baby wrap and dragged a bike for a couple of miles (maybe two.) I'm sure I looked pretty foolish! Because I was separated from the rest of the family, it probably looked like I tried to teach my six month old to ride a bike.

Overall, it was a fun day.

Go, Mary Chris!

Crazy things I've done lately...you mean besides looking like a walking clothes rack, holding an Irish step dance dress under plastic, a purse with a Valentine stuffed dog erupting out the top, and a beach-themed bucket full of shoes, brushes, etc. ALL DAY Sunday? Or, perhaps you mean my new "vocation" as 4-Hand Irish step dance team coach? ("Lindsay, get in your square," "Don't lead with your elbows," etc. - like I have any idea what I am doing!)

Not as fun as rubber duckie races, I admit, but I do this all year 'round!

I ran out of gas on the way to a doctor's appointment but was relieved to know I was right across the street from a friend's house. I filled my tank with their mower gas and drove to the gas station to put gas in my car and their can. Returned the can to their house and was thinking to myself how well I handled all that. So preoccupied with giving myself kudos I was, that I drove RIGHT PAST THE CAUTION GUARD AND ONTO THE BRIDGE as the drawbridge was rising. I had to reverse to get out of the way and then sit there on the bridge in front of the caution gate and wait. Knowing our small town, I was sure someone I know would see me, and sure enough, there was my friend laughing and pointing on the other side of the bridge!

Colleen, that is too funny.

I am reminded by your story that I have had to call a tow truck the last two Fridays in a row...for the same car.

I am now praying for guardian angel help every time I get behind the wheel.

Irene,
There might be a nice crisp 10 spot in it for you if you got digital footage of Mary Chris herding duckies, racing noodles or anything of the kind. Bwahahahahah!

Seriously, Mary Chris, what an awesome mom you are. It sounds hysterical!!!

I danced in a conga line with my kids' violin teacher's four youngest kids, in their basement, to Barbara Ann by the Beach Boys, which her eleven year old had BLARING out of Itunes. I also twisted, and pretend surfed to Surfin' USA. The children were shocked.

Later on during that visit I cleaned up the overflowed toilet while she taught my kids to play The Sound of Music tunes. They played, "The hills are alive..." and I hummed, "There's (*&)( on the floor..." while desperately trying to keep the overflow OUT of her kitchen.

Not particularly crazy, I suppose, but I found it entertaining nonetheless.

Oh no! I had no idea you were swimming, Mary Chris! (Why didn't you mention it yesterday at the park???) We completely missed it. After all the Wednesday meets we've had, I decided to take the night off and go out for pizza with the kids while Joe worked his last late Wednesday night of the summer. We really would have been there if I had known. Rats!

So, how'd you do?

Too funny!

I don't have a story but I can tell on my dh. This summer we splurged on one of those huge air-blown water slides for the kids. We don't belong to a pool and we weren't doing a vacation this year with a new baby coming.

Anyways, dh was certain he could go down the slide. He's a regular guy, only about 150lbs...but it was just a little bit too much! He had a hard time turning around at the top to sit down on it, the whole thing was rocking, the kids were yelling at him, and then it started to tip and we couldn't catch it! He fell off as it tipped too far over. We had it on our bball court so he fell onto concrete, probably from about 8ft up.

What flashed through my head was going to the ER and explaining this...but he bounced right back up and was totally fine. He was annoyed because he really wanted to sit on that thing. What a kid!!!! (He did manage to safely go down on his tummy) I can't even imagine what the neighbors were thinking!

Isn't being a mom fun!

I got such laughs at your stories! The meet was fun, the storm didn't come through our area. The kids enjoyed working the meet. Irene, next year I'm putting it on your calendar along with a 20 to keep your camera at home!

So Helen, what are you going to teach your little one to do next month?

Colleen, when I was learning how to drive, I had to back off the trolley tracks. My poor mom! I think we ended up switching places .

Patty, I know what I'll be humming these days while scrubbing down bathrooms.

And Nancy, I resemble a human packhorse frequently!

In an effort to do more active things as a family, we joined a rock climbing club. It's a lot of fun. We had our first climbing night last night. Wow. I've used muscles that I didn't know were there. I'm a bit sore. I'm sure I was sight with what I was wearing as I didn't expect to get so involved in the actual climbing last night. I had on white capris with a flowery blouse. Needless to say with all the black rubber pieces laid out on the ground as cushion, the pants did not stay white lone. Thank goodness for bleach.

KC that sounds like fun! I have always wanted to do something active as a family but I can never think of what to do. By the time dh gets home he's exhausted from being outside all day so he doesn't want to do anything, especially outside.
As far as doing anything crazy lately, nothing here! Boy am I boring.

This isn't in the league of herding ducks or 8 ft slides, but I did decide to make a 8 ft x 8 ft memory quilt in one week this week as a 10th anniversary gift....fortunately, I have no previous quilting experience so it has gone very smoothly . Off to the fabric store again this afternoon!
