Hi,
Starting very soon, I have vowed to drastically cut out my computer time. I find that I am not very good at budgeting my time online at all.  Elizabeth's recent post also really spoke to me.
So.
What I was hoping, was for some great book suggestions for liturgical year celebrations. We have never really done that kind of thing before, but I would like to. I see what others have done (by way of their blogs or posts on here) but I just don't have enough time to pull it together "for this year, but I'll do it next year" and then I forget, until too late, again. Or, and this is the biggie, I will get online in order to find ideas for this or that, and then see this great idea, with a link over to this site, and then to that site, and before I know it I have spent hours following rabbit trails. I can't do that anymore. I am becoming the queen of "oh, I'll just check this real quick" or "Just checking my email for a minute...."
I need books. I work better with a book that I can curl up with, feel the pages, etc. There aren't the same types of rabbit trails to cause distractions and steal my time with a book. And, even if the kids do see me absorbed in a book, I would rather have them see that than seeing me absorbed with the computer screen.
There have to be some good books that have liturgical year suggestions, right? (is there a pleading smilie?)
Could you share some titles with me? With easy, fun and/or meaningful ideas? I don't have much of a homeschool budget left, so I need the "best of the best" titles.

Laura -- first of course would have to be Cay's Catholic Mosaic published by Margot at Hillside. It's inexpensive but packs alot ... the whole year with great picture books and fabulous ideas for celebrating the saints/time of the year.
Around the Year with the Trapp Family is great if you can find a copy. There is also an online text-only version at EWTN.
There are also many cookbooks that help with great recipes.
Not "curl-up-able", but quite useful, is the
Catholic Culture website -- you'll see many articles that our own JennGM wrote when she worked for them. If you click on the "liturgical year" tab you'll be able to sort on "today", "this week", "this month"..... lots of great info there!

Don't forget to check out the FAQ Favorite Liturgical Year Resources. This question has been brought up many times with different angles.
I'd say The Year and Our Children by Mary Reed Newland is one of the best that's currently in print. Low budget, thought provoking, spiritual and crafty ideas, with inspiration for the mother, too.

I finally bought this. I'ts going to be our "spine" for the this year, along with finding new Mosaic books.

Already have Catholic Mosaic & Christmas Mosaic  and many of the books....I just haven't figured out how to implement it. I am thinking I will spend some time doing that!

Laura,
The important part of the Mosaics is to read the books to your children. Read and discuss. If you have done that then you are "implementing" it correctly.  There are other activity suggestions but the reading and discussing is the core of the Mosaics.
I use books such as "The Year and Our Children" to give me additional ideas and to help me preplan. Like you...I "need" the books.

Really? But...gosh...that just sounds so simple. Why do I make it so much harder than I need to?
Thank you! I am so glad you said this! I am always making it more difficult than I need to - feeling that I need to do every suggestion listed, then feeling overwhelmed and end up not doing it at all.
