Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

It is a cold and overcast day here in my part of IL.

What are some great "must read now that the days are going to get shorter and colder?

I am still hanging my head in shame that I haven't read LOTR.

Have you read the Hobbit? If not, by all means start with that. Then try Fellowship of the Rings and if you like it great, if you don't get into right now try it again later. Other than that, have you readKristin Lavransdatter? Peace Like a River is so good.
I'm supposed to read A Nun's Story by Kathryn Hulme for my book club. I'll let you know how I like it.

You should refresh yourself with a little Jane Austen. I just re-read Pride and Prejudice and it was so comforting. Or you can dig into something lengthier like Dickens, reading him is always enjoyable but ends up a long term commitment if you know what I mean. My reading time inevitably is when my head hits the pillow and sleep follows too closely.

This will sound strange but I like to read a new fitness book or two in winter. Inspires me to keep up the exercise and healthy habits, indoors!
