Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I was just reading over at Catholic Answers about people joining the Church. It was saying that it was discouraged by the U.S. Conference of Bishops to have initiation rituals for already baptized Christians at the Easter Vigil, that day should be reserved for those who have not previously been baptized to avoid confusion.

I have never heard of initiation happening at any other time other than Easter Vigil, whether baptized or not. Has anyone else?

I've noticed in reading many coversion stories.. like those in "Surprised by Truth" that alot of them are initiated other than at Easter.

My profession of faith and confirmation was on Pentecost, along side the highschool or adult (cradle Catholic, never confirmed) confirmations. I was baptized Baptist as a child.

My husband and I were unbaptized converts, so we came in at Easter Vigil. Our Church does already baptized converts at another service (it varies).

My husband received all three sacraments of initiation on Pentecost.

Our parish does everything on Easter Vigil and at other times of year as needed. This would typically be for full reception into the Church. RCIC for older children is done once a year, during the Easter season.

Before our pastor deployed we did 3 cycles of RCIA so Bill was initiated in July last year with other people, some baptized, some not. This was especially helpful because many military PCS or deploy so much they never are able to finish an entire year of RCIA. We had one Catechumen who had done it 5 times! However, whenever the Rite happens, all who are ready to be initiated are, whether they have been baptized or not.

In Hawaii my goddaughter had a conditional baptism a few weeks before the Vigil, received her 1HC at the Vigil and was confirmed with the confirmation class.

My dh went through RCIA in 2000, and had been baptized as a protestant years before. Of his class of about 8, I think only 2 were not previously baptized. All 8 were initiated at the Easter Vigil, but I can't remember if the 2 unbaptized had a ceremony earlier or just went up a few minutes before the rest of the group and did it then.
