Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Do you know of a good memoir that would be appropriate for homeschooled high schoolers? I've ordered "Waiting with Gabriel," which I've heard is excellent, as well as Catholic. But I'd really like to get 10-20 good titles. Anyone, anyone?

Thanks,

I was surprised there weren't any replies, Lisa - did you find anymore titles?

The ones that came to my mind were

James Herriot "All Creatures Great and Small" series and

St. Therese's "Story of a Soul"

We are not quite at the high school level yet - but I have wanted to find more books that illustrate good examples of people living out their chosen vocation - whether that be married, single, or religious.

Any other thoughts?

Corrie Ten Boom's "The Hiding Place"

Justin Catanoso's "A Saint in the Family"

Let me think more...

"Letter to Gabriel" by Karen Santorum....this was a personal journal account of her pregnancy, and the birth and death of a severely handicapped child. It is the most pro-life book I think I've ever read....be sure to have some tissues!
