I went to meet my new midwife today, and received some upsetting news. First, she was unable to detect a fetal heartbeat with the doppler, so I need to go in for an ultrasound in the next few days (the U/S tech was gone for the day). Second, my bloodwork showed that I have developed an Rh antibody, which could affect the baby's health and mine. Third, since I know that I have received Rhogam after all of my babes and at 28 weeks of each pregnancy (and after both miscarriages), it appears that the period I missed in March was a pregnancy that I lost.
I am grieving for the baby that died, and am worried for the health and survival of this baby. All but one of my babies so far has been Rh+, so it is likely that this baby will also. I am willing to accept God's will, of course, but hope that our family will be spared further grief.
If all is well after my next U/S, they will likely be doing indirect Coombs tests throughout the pregnancy. And in the end, it makes a home-birth unlikely for this or any subsequent babe. This is very difficult for me. My hospital births were not good experiences. The good news is that an amniocentesis is not recommended in cases like mine since it could cause the mix of my blood and the baby's.

I am overwhelmed at the outpouring of prayers this morning. Thank you all so very much. I'm off for my U/S this morning, and repeat bloodwork. I should be back just afer lunch-time.
I am comforted by your prayers and bouyed up by the joyous news of Jodie's little one's birth overnight. Thank you all so much.
