Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

After following the Men's College World Series from a distance these past weeks (hoping ASU would advance but they didn't,) I sat down tonight and watched the Championship game and saw my alma mater, Fresno State win! More than that, this victory now holds the honor of being the greatest upset in NCAA history (I can't wait to see the movie in a few years.) Tomorrow I hope to find a link to share more of this wonderful Cinderella story.

This was MY Mother Nurture for today

Love,

We've been watching here, too, as you might expect. Cool that it is your alma mater. And quite a Cinderella story it was.

Hey, we watched it too! We've been following the series with bated breath. Fresno State is right in our county.   Sean's coach cut practice short today and we think it was because he wanted to go home and watch the game

Well...we don't have tv but my mom does. My boys followed as much of it as they could, over the past few weeks, while at grandma's house. I'll have to tell them. How neat!

Here's more of the Cinderella story. And I'll add one more point that we loved. Fresno State started a freshman at shortstop. The poor kid had 3 errors in the Championship game . After the third error, that if the play had been made would have ended the inning, the FS pitcher turned to the freshman, said something with a big ole smile on his face, and the freshman seemed to relax. In the bottom of the 9th, Georgia was looking to make a comeback, got a homer (their first run) and started loading the bases. Sure enough, Georgia hit a hard one to the shortstop...he fielded it perfectly, tossed to second, second threw it to first for a double-play! Talk about redemption .

What a game!

Love,

My husband played Little League baseball against the dad of one of the Fresno players --Jordan Ribera -- the dad's now a pastor of a big non-denom church.

That is SO neat! I didn't realize that you all were in Fresno County. Dave and I lived in Clovis (Ribera went to Clovis West) for three years while going to grad school. I did my internship with Fresno County Administration Office (the operations arm of the Board of Supervisors.)

OK...I'm having flashbacks to the Dancing Raisins who visited regularly (how I dreaded having to interact with those guys in costume...not so )

Love,
