I just wanted to share with you a little story about our Lady's wonderful maternal care.

My 4yo dd got a splinter in her hand on Sunday. It just would not come out. I tried yesterday and I barely touched her hand before she was sobbing and I gave up.

Today, it finally occurred to me to pray about it. We said a Memorare together, then asked the intercession of Our Lady Undoer of Knots... I poked and poked with a sterilised pin and tweezers, and not only did the whole splinter come out, but there was not a peep from my daughter, who normally has the lowest pain threshold in the world!

It sounds a bit silly in the retelling, but it really was so striking. It felt very much as if our Lady really had wrapped my daughter in her mantle.

That is very timely for me Elizabeth. It is early morning over here and I've spent a good part of the night trying to take a fested splinter out of my 3year old's finger, I didn't know he had it there until I heard the poor, poor darling wimpering...I don't know whether I've gotten it all this morning, as the neighbours probably thought we were murdering him I will say a memorare this morning as I deal with it again as I'm not sure I've gotten it all out.

What a beautiful reminder of how tender our dear Mother is. Thank you for sharing it Elizabeth!

I always worry when I have to get a splinter out - I had to take one of my children in to the emergency room when he got part of a wood floor splinter stuck under his fingernail. My heart was broken to see him in such pain. I'm so glad that splinter came out of your dd's hand!
