Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

do you have in your house and how many children using them? We have one main one that I use for school/internet and the dc use it for school assignments. Our oldest has her own laptop that she used for school the last few years. (hopefully she will give it to us when she enters the convent) And we have one junky one that they can play a few games on and do word processing but it has no printer and is super slow. We are finding that there is a line for the computer, especially when we are doing school. SO I am wondering how other families manage, particularly large families with older students.

We have 1 main computer that needs to be replaced soon and dd21 in college has a laptop but no internet. I am finding it more and more difficult to manage time for me to do homeschooling/planning and research online as my three older ones (17, 16, 21) all use the same one. It was crazy during the school year with all the papers that needed to be written, etc. My dream is to have my own laptop but I would probably want a printer too. My two younger ones, 7 and 9, don't go on the computer regularly except for Starfall during the school year. We no longer allow games as it always causes a crash. Oh, and dh is in there sometimes too! In other words, this isn't enough for a family my size.

Well, we have three connected to the internet (2 laptops--1 for me, 1 for DH, one desktop--mostly DHs, for ham radio). We have a couple of other ones that we don't use that often...but the dc play games on them occasionally...

We have 2 desktop computers. The one upstairs is just for dh and I and the one downstairs is for all. The printer is hooked to the one downstairs and most of my pics (though backed up) are on that one, too. Everyone has to take their turn, and sometimes they have to wait. My oldest dd wants a laptop, but I said, "Get in line."

Main one is mine. Dh uses it about once a week.

The children's computer is in the kitchen and it's on its last-leg. Until recently there were 4 dc having to share it. My oldest hardly ever gets on the computer. He's anti.

For graduation my oldest dd got a laptop so she's happy and that leaves just three on the kitchen computer. They are suppose to have only one hour time periods. Suppose to!

Two desktops. "My" computer is in the great room, in the middle of everything, and the only computer connected to the internet.

About six months ago "my" computer was acting up and my son's games were not working properly on it. I was told the computer and the games weren't getting along because of their size and something to do with the video demands. I wasn't inclined to get a second computer, but my husband got disgusted trying to work on something one day and bought the kids the second desktop. We put it in the basement family room, and now "my" computer is much happier.

ETA I use the main computer only. My husband does some business accounting on it about once a week. The kids use this machine if they need to go on the internet (fairly rare) or need to type something to print. Only the kids use the downstairs computer.

One desktop in LR, DH has a work laptop (has all his fancy-schmancy lighting design programs on it) and I have a laptop.

There is another older desktop in the garage that is supposed to be dd18 when she keeps her room at least moderately picked up. It's been in the garage much more so than her room.

We have two desk tops in our school room. I am actually hoping to find another one to use off line for word processing the kids papers. I want to put it in a quiet work room where the big kids can work on school work without the little kid chaos around them.

We have 2 laptops and 3 desktops. 2 of the desktops are 8 years old and have no internet. Mostly the boys use them for a few old games, and as word processors.

We have one desktop, which is the one I use for school and visiting here . Dh has a laptop from work. We will soon have a new Dell desktop and this one will be the school computer.
The new Dell is such a blessing; dh won it at a golf tournament when he shot a hole-in-one! We would not have another if it weren't for that. God blesses us in the most unusual ways sometimes--isn't that awesome?

4 laptops (one is away with Libby) and three or four desktops...maybe more. I have not been in the cellar lately, but I understand that one is dedicated to gaming-while-treadmilling down there.

Libby and Trip have their own laptops, but Annika and Paul share a desktop.

My dh has a laptop from work so no one else gets to use that much. Oldest son has a laptop also though it's gone most of the year when he is at school. We have 2 desktops but one went out last month and we haven't replaced the hard drive yet. Boy do I miss having it functional since that leaves me and the 3 kids without laptops to fight over the one working desktop.

We have one desktop- still in the dark ages here as well!

I am actually hoping to find another one to use off line for word processing the kids papers. I want to put it in a quiet work room where the big kids can work on school work without the little kid chaos around them.

That sounds like a good idea- our desktop is in the DR as I like to have an eye on what is going on, but it would be great to have one in a quieter area for the kids papers.

We have a desktop that should be in the study, but we do not have a desk top to set it on as of yet. So it sits in the living room where we can play our American DVDs on it (yes, even though we have a brand new DVD player, it will not play American DVDs yet ... some sort of regional thing).

Joe bought me a laptop before we left the states. We all use it, but no one is allowed to download anything on to it. I have all of my school information and the links to my favorite blogs on here. My ds uses MSN messenger to talk to his best friend back home. It is kind of cool to see them talking over the computer!

My dh has all the peripherals for a second desktop, but he still needs the brains. I think the plan is to set that one up in the school room. We are still settling in (does one ever unpack all of the boxes). We have internet on both computers, but unfortunately, it does not reach out to the school room. Still working on how to solve that as well.

We have 4 computers (2 desktops and 2 laptops). One of the desktops is for my husband and me and the other one is set up for the children (they rarely use it). The laptops are his and hers. The laptops were gifts from family and friends. My husband built the desktops. He is good at finding deals and he likes to have a fast, reliable system, so building our own was the only way to go.
