My brother's best friend (since 5th grade at St. Bernadette's) was diagnosed a few weeks ago with liver cancer. Brian is 31, has only been married 2 years, and has a 3-month-old daughter. They think they caught it early, thankfully, but the tumor is wrapped around the major blood vessel (artery?) going into his liver, which complicates things.
His father died 14 years ago of liver cancer. His wife is a breast cancer survivor. He is an only child, and his mother is a nurse, so she is imagining all kinds of horrible scenarios. 
He is having surgery tomorrow at a cancer research center at Ohio State -- my brother flew out with him. Please pray that the surgery is successful, and for strength and peace of mind for his wife, his mother, and my little brother.

UPDATE 6/26: My brother called yesterday afternoon to tell us Brian was out of surgery. I'm not sure if Brian was not aware of how sick he was or if he just hadn't been able to tell my brother, but my brother told us the surgeons removed 80% of Brian's liver. His doctor said it was touch-and-go at one point, but that Brian had come through the surgery well.
Thank you so much for all of your prayers! My brother told Brian how many women I had praying for him, and he said Brian asked me to please thank all of you, that he knew they were helping him. I will keep you all posted...

Brian has been in my prayers, Wendy. My father had a transplant because of liver cancer almost two years ago. Your intention is close to my heart. I am glad that the surgery went well and am praying for Brian's recovery. It is a long process.
