...does your dh ever get..jealous?
Mine sometimes wishes he could do this mom thing. I know as stressful as it can be it sure is better than corporate life. I wouldn't want to give it up for anything. I try to stress the positives in our day and sometimes that would be a mistake? The days dd, who is 5, tantrums every time I speak, I try to find only good to say about her during our(wonderful )day together. Anyhow, just curious...

My dh would trade places in a heartbeat. He would do an even better job...way more energy, way more knowledge (he knows all the math tricks!), and just all-around incredibly enthusiastic! Federal holidays are fun, we still do school those days so Dad can do school do. It's more a holiday for me than him!
I think the fact he isn't fond of his job at work, helps too. He said he'd rather deal with a child's tantrum/back talk/refusal to work than the those of the "adults" he supervises and works and with

No, he never does. He enjoys his job and will be doing something new when we get to our new base. He doesnt have a desk job though, which sometimes both he and I wish. I would love for him to have a Mon-Fri 40hr work week but its never going to happen. He's always worked 12hr shifts and now with his new job, he'll be flying and will be gone anywhere from 3-7dys at a time. No long deployments though for him and he gets extra pay for flying. Those were the major reasons he decided to get into this new career field. I'd rather have him gone for short amts of time rather than 6mo or more and working 12hr shifts. He will thoroughly enjoy flying though and working with the pilots. When he enjoys his job, it makes a huge difference.

my dh is such a great dad/teacher to our boys- he "gets" them, and they respond to him in a way I most likely never will get!! I'm grateful that he can take a week off (of his two weeks vacation time) to go to boy scout camp with the older two- I'm glad that he is so involved and encouraging and connects with them!
if anyone is jealous, I must admit there have been occasions where I just feel like I'm not quite fitting in!
maybe that will change as my dd grows up a bit. and I think it is great that there are no father/son conflicts like I observe sometimes can occur....

My husband would LOVE to stay home and care for the children! He is very patient with them, has lots of energy, and always thinks of fun ways to interact with them--he would be great at taking care of them on a daily basis. His enthusiasm with them reminds me how often I take staying at home for granted.
The part of my job that he and I both know he couldn't really handle is the cooking, cleaning, and general running of the home...and the homeschooling, when the time comes.

Yes! And, in many ways, I think he would do a much better job.
[ETA: When he was in college and rooming with 4 other guys, he earned the nickname "Momma Gib". Is that proof enough? ]

Not my dh. If anything he's jealous that we can take naps in the middle of the day if we want to . He knows how hard it is managing everything and really would not trade places with me for anything. He knows he's good at what he does (engineering) and I'm good at what I do. Plus he loves his job and his co-workers and they love him.
That said, he does relish the times when he's able to contribute, i.e., teaching Calculus to the oldest, taking the boys on all of their scouting meetings/camps, teaching physics and other science things when he needs to, the occasional read-aloud... and the sports -- he's good at that. If not for him none of our kids would get any exercise or have any involvement with sports and other more physical activities.

Ditto! Right down to the engineering. Except for the "I'm good at what I do" part!
