Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Well in preparing for our new little one's arrival...I went to Target to buy a few things and I was stumped in the diaper rash cream/ointment section. There seem to be a whole lot of new products out there than just 3 1/2 yrs ago when we last had a baby.

So what are you ladies putting on wee little ones bums these days? Still good old desitin (which I was about to buy)...but then I thought I'd see what others have been doing???

(Oh and if this matters in the process of thinking, we use disposable diapers...just could never make that switch )

my very very favoritest and good for so much more is "Baby Cream" by Country Comfort

It's healing herbs in an oil and beeswax base (about the consistency of vasoline, not liquid).. good for diaper cream (heals things FAST), scrapes, small cuts, excessively dry skin, chapped skin etc.

But on the rare occation I need a true barrier cream for a little one.. a desitin type works great.

I don't know how the price compares here but it gives the ingredient list Baby Cream

well.....I like good ol' desitin. I have tried other kinds, from other store brands to ones only found at health food or natural stores.

But...in the end desitin still seems to work the best.

A & D ointment

My mom used it on us as babies, and now it's like a family friend. It wipes off easily, too.

I use Aveeno Baby - I checked out ratings and this was awarded the best for the price. I have also used Baby Bee and Arbonne - but they are so pricey and did not get rated as highly.

My kids have never had diaper rash...

We use zinc oxide. I believe you can buy it in a large container tub at Wal-Mart and other such places. The price works out cheaper/pound than the tubes. We save that for rashes and use Caldescene (sp?) powder for other changes.

I use Weleda Calendula nappy change cream. I only use it at night or when there is a problem, and it is gone by next nappy change normally. I love the stuff.

I use coconut oil. It works for everything, it has antibiotic and antifungal properties and it is very soothing. I do put the oil that i use for baby bottoms in a separate container from the oil I use for cooking! That's very important

Blessings,
Betsie
