Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My cc# was stolen back in April of this year. It actually happened to me before but about 5 years ago. Anyways, I cleared it all up and got a new card.

Now dh's card # has been stolen. We even have different companies.

So we don't think this is a coincidence?? Maybe???

What is our next step? I assume a call to a credit report company. But we've never done that. Anyone have this unfortunately happen to them and what sort of actions did you take?

Very frustrating!!!!

Call the issuer (bank, AmEx, whoever) right away. They will block the card, check for fraudulent charges, and see about issuing your dh a new card. If he's the only cardholder he will have to make the call himself.

You don't need to call the credit reporting companies unless fraudulent charges were made - normally those charges just get reversed off your account.

Guess how I know.

Hang in there...you can fix this fairly easily.

Well we know about it because the cc company called us to report to us some suspicious charges. Which my dh did verify as fraudulent. So they already know and have already closed the card and are sending an affadavit (sp?) for him to sign to verify the fraudulent charges.

We are just concerned that since it has happened to both of us...maybe we need to do some more proactive measures to be sure nothing else is happening without us knowing. kwim?

Kacky - you are entitled to a free credit report - one a year - and more if you were a victim of fraud. You can check them online and put fraud alerts with all 3 credit report bureaus. I would do this. We had the same thing happen - and I took all precautions. Please call me if you need more info - I cannot type as I have a very hungry and tired baby.
