Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Is there a boxed set of all the Betsy-Tacy books for sale anywhere? Amazon had nothing. Also, can someone give me a list of all the Betsy-Tacy books? I would like to get the series for my dd for her birthday.
Thanks!!
Jennifer

No boxed set; I've never seen one.

Here's the list.

Betsy-Tacy
Betsy-Tacy and Tib
Betsy and Tacy Go Over the Big Hill
Betsy and Tacy Go Downtown
Heaven to Betsy
Betsy in Spite of Herself
Betsy Was a Junior
Betsy and Joe
Betsy and the Great World
Betsy's Wedding

Extra books:

Winona's Pony Cart
Emily of Deep Valley
Carney's House Party

(Betsy is in these books, but as a minor character)

Good luck!

Years ago, my mother sent a bunch at one time. I think it must have been a boxed set.

They may not be available like that anymore.

No, definitely no boxed sets out there now. The first four books in the series, which cover Betsy's childhood before high school, are available new for about $6 each. It's the later books that are more difficult to find.    I've found the entire set over the years except one - Betsy and Joe. I refuse to pay over $60 for a used paperback copy in good shape.

Happy hunting!

The list is in order, except for the "extras." Winona's Pony Cart goes between Over the Big Hill and Downtown; Emily of Deep Valley and Carney's House Party take place after Betsy and Joe but before Betsy's Wedding.

I think Emily of Deep Valley is especially good.

Also, did you know that Maud Hart Lovelace used Mankato, Minn. (where I have relatives!) as the model for Deep Valley? That means you can go see Tacy's House for yourself, because the Betsy-Tacy Society owns it. Betsy's original house is privately owned.

Definitely a pilgrimage I plan to make, once my dd is old enough to read all the books (we've read the first 4).

Just chiming in to say that some info about the status of the Betsy Tacy books came up in this recent thread.

HarperCollins has allowed the high-school B-T books (and beyond) to go out of print due to poor sales. The 4 younger books are in jeopardy as well, unfortunately. They recently tried a reissue of the first B-T book in a bigger trim size, but it hasn't done well either. It was a kind of test case to see if there was enough interest in the series to justify reprinting all of them. Very disappointing!!

The whole series had gone out of print before and was resurrected in the mid-90s. That's probably the set your mom sent you, Helen, though I don't think they were ever boxed. A few years later, an editor pal of mine (and fellow rabid Maud Hart Lovelace fan) cajoled the higher-ups into republishing Emily of Deep Valley (my very favorite) and the Winona and Carney books. Sadly, those didn't last long in print. Sales just weren't there.
