Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My third from the front tooth chipped. Badly. "Broke" is probably more accurate, as about 1/3 is missing. The inside is exposed. This is bad.

I have to go to the dentist. Tomorrow.

I am terrified.

Of being stuck in the claustrophobic chair, of having an IBS attack while there, and no way to leave, of having to go to a new Doctor, and to be honest, just having to drive in the car.

I have Xanax. I should take it. Probably even today too. But I am afraid. I am afraid of the medicine that is supposed to make me not afraid.

I am always afraid. And I am so tired.

please, please pray for me.

never before have I just hated "being."

or felt so unbelievably, miserably alone as I do right now.

*****Update*****

Thanks everyone, so much. I really appreciate it.

I have to go back () on Monday for a root canal and crown. I knew that was what he was going to say, altho I was still hoping not. He was very nice, very patient, and prescribed my a single dose valium to take prior to coming (I have had valium for other procedures so I am more okay with it.) At least it is a front tooth and so a single root, right?

It still isn't really hurting too bad(tho it is a little more sore now since it was being messed with all morning.)

Now, an additional embarrassing PR....I had to take a LOT of immodium this morning to be able to go. Sometimes it really messes with my IBS / digestive track. I am hoping not, especially since I do have to go back. But I couldn't get out the door otherwise.

Thank you again. I don't know how I would do it without you guys.

Praying for you - for peace and for a positive dental experience/treatment. You are not alone right now - we are here for you in prayer.

Laura,
I'll pray for you and even hold your hand in a sense that I'm in the same predicament. I broke a back tooth last week, leaving a 1/4 missing and the filling exposed and I haven't even told my dh because he had enough on his mind with his biopsy and the insurance mess. I'm hoping to wait until after a visit to the camp this weekend (praying my filling stays intact ) so our family can relax, then Monday I'm going too take a deep, deep breath and call to schedule a dental appt. Hoping I don't have to have another crown put in.

It's heck to get old.

Because I'm such a coward, I have to constantly tell myself to be grateful that I'm not living in the medieval ages (though I love to read about them) when I have to go to the dentist. But then, perhaps bad teeth are underrated.

Anyway, just my way of telling you I'm praying sincerely for you and suffering alongside of you.

Here's to the dental chair!!!

Would you be more inclined to use a homeopathic? I've used Bach's Rescue Remedy for dental work (I swear I'll fall on my head out of that chair despite all reason ) And it really helped me be able to deal with it and relax (relaxing makes the work so much less traumatic) I couldn't give up contact with the arms of the chair.. but I went from clenching with both hands to only resting one hand on the arm.

Praying Laura. For all your worries - especially for peace at the dentist. (I am still living with a chipped crown as I cannot face going in right now!!)

I am so sorry, Laura! My ds broke both front teeth that badly last year. So we can relate to that part. Praying also that you will have immense peace. I know that nothing I *say* can take those fears away. They are not something that you can control or reason away. I am just praying that God will grant you peace and rest from anxiety!

duh, Jodie......what a great idea!

Laura......what a bummer to have to do this just after you moved to a new place. I am sorry.

And, as Saint Appolonia and I are good friends , we will pray for you together!
