Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Ok, this is going to sound really funny and it certainly isn't a major or critical part of our schooling so please, please, don't go searching for this - but if anyone happens to know where I can get a recording of the Revolutionary War tune The World Turned Upside Down, I'd love to order it.

Now, I don't know a thing about it except that it was mentioned a number of times in The Reb and the Redcoats (a great Bethlehem Book, btw). My reason for wanting it is I think I'm going to learn to hum it and then when I get irritated by the irrational decisions that don't address the real problems, I can just hum it instead of going insane and ranting and raving (Like wanting permission to do a background check on a young teenager because she will be accompanying the children's choir during practice so the choir director can more easily instruct the choir). Then I would be able (maybe) to smile sweetly at college admissions people who wax elequent about the wonderful advantages of the coed dorm (more like apartment with recreational centers all their own)and hum instead of asking why the college students need anything more than a bed, dresser and desk - after all they are supposed to be studying not floating down the elaborate river-like pool while mom and dad or in our case, dd, pay upwards $5,000 per year to just live there while we hope there will be enough left over to pay for books and tuition.

Ok, I've vented some and now if I could find that tune to learn, I might even gain some musical skills as I learn to whistle it, hum it, maybe even play it on the piano!

Oh, it does feel good to vent when the world seems upside down!

Amazon and the Williamsburg Marketplace carry CDs with this tune.

I just saw the cd for sale today, and you can get it online from history.org

Mention you're a homeschooler. They gave me a discount when I bought the cd at the Williamsburg store.

We just saw where Cornwallis surrendered, yesterday!
