My mum is a young grandmother and 14 years ago choose the non-traditional grandparent name, Marnie. She is getting married in September this year and we are trying to think of a name for this new 'grandfather', he is young himself.
Both of our children's grandfathers are deceased, dh's father was Pa and my father was Grumpy which he later changed to Grandad. So I don't want to use them.
I have been searching the internet to see if I could find a male equivalent to Marnie with no luck, but it doesn't have to be that. So any ideas?

No clue. My dc call their only living grandfather "Grampy" (my mom, their only living grandmother, is Grammy).
My grandparents were always grandmommy and granddaddy...
DH called his grandparents Grandma Mom, and Grandma Dad. Don't ask me why--the ones who would know are long gone and can't explain it.
Rachel (who always thought the German Oma and Opa would be cute, without being obvious. Maybe Opie, for short?  )

My children called their late Grandfather Pop-Pop. I've heard Grandpere (sp?) and I called my great-grandfather Papa Simon (pronounced see-mon)He was Mexican.

My children have a Poppop (my dad) and a Granddaddy (dh's dad, who passed away).
Growing up, I had a Pop and a Grandpa.

We have a Poppa and a Gramps.
Growing up, I called both my living grandfathers "Grandpa"
To be honest, Gramps cracks me up for some reason. My boys just started calling him that during this most recent visit and he seems to like it just fine. I wonder what my mom will say when she shows up next week (she's much more traditional!)

My children call my dad Papa (pronounced Paw-paw). The call my husband's father Grampa which is like grandpa only slurred together really fast. The call my mom's husband Junior because that is his family nickname. Could you do a variation of his name or nickname like that instead of grandpa?

My daughter calls my parents Grammy and Poppy. My son called my parents Papa Paul and Gramma Diann, but now that my daughter calls them sometime else we change it up depending on who we're talking to.
My husband parents are Gramma and Papa, sometimes Gramma Joni and Papa Bill when we need to differentiate from my parents when we've already referred to them as Gramma and Papa.
My brother's wife's parents are Papa and Mimi.
I know another family who calls grandparents Noni and PopPop.

Our family names for granddads have been Grandpa, Papa, And Bubba. My dh is of Polish descent and his dad was Dziadzi (spelling?)(Jah-jee).

Okay........we may get the strangest name award here"
My children call my dh's father JIDDEE (Arabic for grandfather-he is 100% Lebanese) and my dad is called: Georgie-Pop...kind of like Tootsie-pop, you know.
My dad was a young grandfather and did not want to be a "grandpa" so he kept trying to think of something......when he came up with Georgie-pop.......I told him I was going to make it stick .....and stick, it did!  He deserves the goofy name.....he IS goofy!
My mil was dead when they were born, so we just call her Grandma Bryan.......and my mom is simply grandma
When we were little, we called my grandparents: Grandma Skipper and Grandpa Skipper and Grandma Bridget and Grandpa Bridget.......as their dogs were named Skipper and Bridget
Oh, and my great-grandparents in Louisiana were Mammaw and Pappaw

Our kids' grandparents are old, so they never desired "cool" names lol. They are Grandma and Grandpa (were MeeMaw and BeePaw for a while). Actually Grandpa Mike and Grandpa Draw (my Dad would always let kids sit in his lap and draw at his desk). Grandma's got the Grandpa's nick name too (though I don't think they know it!)
Anyway, I found a fun website with LOTS of different names...

My dc have 2 sets (dh's parents divorced and remarried) of grandpas and grandmas, only they use their last name with one set and first names with other. My parents they call Granddaddy and Mamaw.
But here's a different one...when I was growing up I had Boppa (my mom's dad). Then on my dad's side we called them Nana and Pa.
How about since he isn't their "true" grandfather (ykwim?) call him Grandpa Bob (or whatever his name is). Just add his first name, so it's respectful and not so fuzzy/older feeling at the same time (we have done that with the step-grandparents) but also still sounds young having first the name.

I already decided (with my oldest being the ripe old age of ten!) that I want to be Nanny and that my dh should be Pops. He would be happy to share his future grandparent name! Oh! And my 18yo niece calls my parents g-ma and g-pa and they really get a kick out of it.

My mom is Gammy (family tradition) and my dad is Grandpa. My m-i-l is Grandma (Lastname) but she calls herself Grandma Helen when she writes to the kids.
My daughter's godfather's dad (who lives near us) is called Grumpa.
In WV, where we lived for a while, most grandparents are called MeeMaw and Pop-Pop.
I really like Grandpere! How cool!

I had never heard Marnie before, so I unfortunately don't have a clue what to pair with it. My kids call my dad Pappy Jack and my mom G-ma Jo (sometimes Grandma Jo). And my husband's parents are referred to as Nanny and Pap Pap.

My grandparents (in Louisanna) were Mama and Pawpaw. I don't remember them very well as they died when I was very young. My father's parents were Granny and Granddaddy (as were my mother and father). We call dh's mother G'ma Lucy.
I had a friend whose boys called their grandparents Manga and Tata. That was what her son called them when he first learned to speak, and the name stuck. I kind of like the way it sounds.
