Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

for me please!

I haven't had the grace to attend Mass during the week in years. But, I thought that *maybe* we could try to attend Holy Mass for First Fridays. I thought it would be a great way to help 3 of my children prepare for sacraments next year. I've been trying to prepare them with the prayer meditations (Saintly Supplements). Also, a few things have come together to make this a difficult time for me. I really could use the promises of:
peace in the family, blessing of endeavors, and increase in piety.

I never have to go to the emergency room... but today, one of my little guys has a big cut. Stitches? Not sure, but he should go. I don't think I can make sure everyone has clean clothes, hair brushed, baby fed and go to Church.

So, would you mind sending a prayer for me? I guess this is the Lord's Will for me instead of my plans.

Jesus, meek and humble of Heart,
Make my heart like unto Thine

Praying, Helen. Sometimes so many little things are much harder to bear than just one big thing.

Peace,
Nancy

Oh, Helen, I know this frustration and sorrow. I tried so hard to make the First Fridays, I was up to 7, and then I got pregnant and sick and couldn't continue. Life since then has not allowed me the opportunity. I take comfort in the thought that holiness comes first and foremost through my vocation. There is grace through obedience to my vocation. What a consolation!

Asking the most Sacred Heart of Jesus to give you assurance of His rich promises, and praying for your little guy as well.

Is there an update on him?

Thanks Jennifer!
Yes, he received the glue treatment and has a flashy splint. He's fine.

I remembered later in the day (bang my hand against my forehead emoticon), that once in my life I did make the nine First Fridays. I only did it once though and it took about eight years of trying! (i think)

So, I guess I have the promises already. But, I did want to pass it on to my children and offer this nine First Fridays as a Thanksgiving in anticipation of the Lord helping my family in all the big and little things we need.

I'll pray that you'll be able to make the 9 Fridays. At least there was no doubt that you couldn't finish it and the reason came from God. That is a consolation!

Thanks everyone for your prayers!

Just seeing this, Helen, and praying for you!
Glad your son is O.K. I know the feeling of wanting to make the first fridays too! I have been able to make them but I, too, want my children to attend first fridays and it has only happened a few times this year.
blessings and sending prayers your way!

Me too. I'll keep you in my prayers as we try to continue to make the first Fridays. I actually wrote about devotions to the Sacred Heart last night.

I want to acknowledge my lack of faith. Just because I forgot about making the nine first Fridays doesn't mean the Lord forgot.

Just because I thought it would be a good idea, to do them again, doesn't mean that the Lord required me to do them again. He is generous and faithful.

So, instead of "I guess I have the promises," I want to say,

I have the promises.

Helen,
You are such an example of humility to me...thank you.

Still praying that you are able to carve out the time to make these Fridays with your children.
