...who has acute leukemia. We really don't know him very well since we just moved into the area, but apparently he is well known by many people in the area including many non-Catholics. His name is Father John Dermody.

Update

My dh works with one of the ladies who knows Fr. Dermody well. Apparently, the tumor is not responding to the chemotherapy, so he has left the hospital and gone to stay with his brother. He has made arrangements with hospice since his brother has children with special needs.

He is very peaceful and is continuing to go to the pub and enjoy a pint with friends. I am so saddened by this news as he is such a wonderful priest and so well respected in this community. Please continue to pray for him.

Final Update

Father Dermody died on August 2nd in the presence of his family. He was 59 years old. He will be sorely missed throughout our diocese.
