Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My littlest one is on the autism spectrum, and really doesn't have much patience when it comes to math. I've used lots of math games - Family Math, Peggy Kaye, etc. and wrote my own math for her for the first few years, but I think we really do need to move to something "real" - LOL - and somewhat incremental which she can work through a little. OK, and I'm completely out of steam on DIY! I have two teens, too! :)

The trouble is, her patience is very limited for math work. She simply can't do 180 days of slowly progressive math as with most math curricula.

It really must hold some interest for her. Ideally, I'd write a whole Littlest Pet Shop or Webkinz based curriculum (LOL!) which only takes about 15 minutes per day, and is colorful and engaging. LOL!!! I really don't have the time.

I looked at Simply Charlotte Mason's Pet Store Business math, but it is FAR beyond her skills at the moment. She's operating at, about 2nd or 3rd grade level.

I know this is a long shot, but can anyone think of some ideas which might *possibly* be good for me to look into?

Any and all suggestions will be welcome - you never know!

Thank you in advance!

You caught my eye because I've been wanting an art based math program for Maria. Something girly would be great. When I was reading through the Emmanuel Books catalog this year, I noticed that one of their girls made a lap book of math. It would be work, but Maria would love it and learn well with it if I could design it. I think it would be fun too.

For our regular curriculum she started with Marcy Cook Math because it's fun. I know because she was my math teacher for a few years.

Now we do Math U See which she doesn't love but does fine with.

Marcy Cook was your math teacher!!!???!!! You lucky girl! I went to one of her seminars and she is fabulous! I have a bunch of her stuff and pull it out for ds now and again when we want some fun math games. I was just thinking I want to get more for dd at her level.

She is!!! She told me that she tells a story about me in seminars sometimes. It has to do with fatorial and dinner table seating. The funny thing is, when she told me the story, I had the exact same response as I did in the 4th grade.

Back to our regularly scheduled conversation....

Lauri, Have you looked at Living Math which Theresa mentioned elsewhere recently? It looks like there are lots of good resources there.

And I always love to check out MacBeth's Opinion. In fact this search added to my bursting Amazon cart.
