Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Ladies, could you please pray for our son, Jimmy. He is 4 1/2 and due to be baptised on Saturday. He is very very nervous about the water side of things. Our church has a modern bowl style font - thankfully as the old style deep tub font scare him to death! But everyone who speaks to him keeps joking about him being given a bath, or going in head first etc etc, and he is a very anxious little boy, and rather than enjoy his preparation - and he is spiritually excited about it - he has this worry on his mind.

It's a small thing but prayers for his peace of mind would be so gratefully receieved.

Could you and he talk with your priest? He could explain to your son what would happen at the baptism (the action part of it). As for those teasing your son, I would tell them to stop teasing your son, that baptism is a serious thing and not something to joke around about.

Praying for protection, peace, and joy in the reception of this most holy sacrament!

St. Michael the archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray. And do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into hell, Satan, and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Love,

Thanks, ladies.

Mary, it actually has been the priest, deacon and sacristan who have been making some of the jokey comments. I think they want to be light-hearted and relax Jim, but they don't know how anxious he is.

He is so excited about it, and we have been to see the set up and look at the "stuff" on the baptism trolley, and once Father knew he was nervous he was very good on downplaying the amount of water. The thing that just humbles me, is how seriously he is taking the sacrament, and how much he wants his soul washed clean :o)
