Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Today we were running last minute errands for my baby brother's wedding on Friday. This included shoes for ds. Since there was a used book store nearby, I had to stop in ! I had some good finds...some Tomie dePaola titles, including Country Angel Christmas which was on my list to get, and then some of BFIAR titles and Caldecott award books, including Harry the Dirty Dog and Zin, Zin, the Violin. I'm spreading out the wealth, but ds enjoyed "Harry" and "Zin"...even though I thought the latter might be a bit above his head.

I also picked up Caps for Sale by Esphyr Slobodkina. I read it to my son and he was hooked...laughing out loud, , wanting to read it several times. He just loved it! He really loves reading books, and it just thrills me to have the cuddle time with him.

We've been reading up and comparing picture books of St. Francis of Assisi for his feast tomorrow. It's been wonderful to see him enjoy the books. I found it interesting that he recognized the way the houses were drawn in Tomie DePaola's Francis: Poor Man of Assisi as the same as in Strega Nona. He kept pointing to the tiled roofs and saying it was Strega Nona's house!

It's just so thrilling as a mother to see the learning process and the world opening up to him. I can see why so many mothers *WANT* to homeschool, because this is the enjoyable part...seeing how wonderfully and beautifully we are made!

Isn't it great? Most of my non-homeschooling friends think I am crazy, but for me, homeschooling is always the *best* part of the day.

We love Caps for Sale here too.

Hi Jenn,

Thanks for sharing this "littles with books" reminder...it is my straight path to enjoying home education! When all else fails...pull out Caps for Sale then go for a nature walk now why do I get distracted from this wisdom?

Love,
