Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I know, Theresa. I just heard this on the radio 20 minutes ago, and I said to dh, "That is sooo sad."

Peace,

I really can't even find words right now after reading this. I think I am/was really ignorant on this...denial or something. Wow isn't the right word, but something... ykwim? I think I'll be shaking my head in disbelief even in my sleep tonight

The one lovely thing is how eager the chinese people are to adopt their own orphans. That is such good news. Maybe it will encourage them to adopt more of the children currently in care there who are not victims of the earthquake.

You know, both of our girls are adopted from China and I just can't even comment on this. It just really upsets me. Especially after I've seen with my own eyes how many children are in those orphanages before the earthquake. Aren't their lives important? Didn't they deserve a home...ever?
