Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Has anyone used the Program for Achieving Character Education - what age is it geared to and what is your view of it?

Thanks

Marilyn,

There's a Catholic version of PACE available at Emmanuel Books, I think. I don't have time to link, sorry. Anyway, It is geared toward K-6 (that is, the readings say for K, read this, 1st read this...through 6th - though there's a lot of overlap). I really like it
Do you have any specific questions about it?

God bless,
Christine

Hi Marilyn,
Here's the link
I have this version and really like it. Unfortunately, I have a hard time working it into our day. I think if I started first thing in the morning we would do it. That's my plan for next year anyway. It has different story recommendations for each age group. I think my 4yo is definitely too young. My 7 yo is just getting to where it would benefit him, but he's a little immature. I just mostly talk about the virtue and read the selections. Then, in their notebook, I try to have my kids do a bit a copywork for each selection. As I said though, I've had a hard time working it into our day.
There are projects listed for each virtue and you could really get involved by using the ideas they list.
The only thing I have a hard time with is that the virtues aren't the "Cardinal virtues" that my kids read about in the Catechism.
Any other specific questions I can help you with?

This is what I feel about it too. Might be great in a co-op or something! I'm thinking of doing some subjects in a block scheduling kind of arrangement (i.e. science all summer, but then no science and something else for the next few months, etc) - I might work this in there.

Thank you everyone - I really appreciate the information.

My question - I was thinking of PACE as part of a virtues program for Confirmation prep - but I am getting the impression that it is geared more towards younger kids - is this correct?
