As you may have already heard, the California Supreme Court legalized gay marriage today. Please pray for the people of California and for our nation.

We have been very sad over this ruling here in CA. I have read, though, that there may be an initiative coming through that would amend the Constitution to outlaw same-sex marriage...so perhaps not all hope is lost here. Time will tell. We are praying hard.

Haven't they done this before and it was knocked down by the supreme court?

Prop 22, which passed in 2000, wasn't a Constitutional amendment--the new initiative would be, so as I understand it, the courts wouldn't be able to overturn it. (The article explains more.)

That said, as hard as I fought for Prop 22 to pass a few years ago (I was a fundamentalist Christian at the time, and believe me, we were all over it!

), I'm not sure that the climate in California is the same now as it was then...
