We watched a wonderful video last night on American folk music. This Land is Your Land: The Folk Years is the PBS taping of a concert held in 2002 at Carnegie-Mellon all about folk music. Judy Collins, the Smothers Brothers, Kingston Trio (who started it all), and others sang live to a packed auditorium ... not only are the songs wonderful and a real part of American history, but the comments by the singers -- defining folk music, explaining how/why they wrote these songs, etc -- really make for a great music "class" as well as history.

We had such fun and the kids loved hearing these songs as they're mostly quite peppy and fun to hear.
