I'm looking for a nice set of blocks, made in the USA. I found these, which I really like, but $175?!?!! Any other suggestions or recommendations?? Or are these blocks so great and worth the price that my grandkids will play with them, thus justifying the cost??

Jennifer,
I love Nova Natural and Hazelnut Kids! Nova Natural has a nice selection of blocks and so does Hazelnut Kids.

We got a set like these for my son last year for Christmas. I don't think they were made in the USA, though, but since they are not painted, I wasn't too concerned. Ours is pretty much this exact set except the edges on ours are rounded off. We purchased ours at AC Moore and used the 40% off coupon they mail out weekly. Ended up only costing around $25. They seem to be good quality, too.

We got ours from Barclay Woods 7 or so years ago. They're still being used heavily to this day. None have splintered or broken. If anything my only regret is not buying a larger set. (I think ours was around $175 when we got it.) Yes, it's very pricey. But I love the material (US), that it's made here, and the lifetime guarantee. At about ~$25/year since we bought it, I think that's a good enough investment.

We bought 2 sets of very nice blocks from Childcraft at Christmas. We planned on gifting a set to a sibling as a Christmas exchange and keep a set ourselves. But the sibling had already bought a set for her kids. (We were all talking blocks before Christmas and exchanging ideas). Anyway, we had bought Childcraft blocks years ago (when the 20 year old was little) and have used them ever since.
This set is a table-top set which is 2/3 the size of regular unit blocks. They are heavy enough not to fall over with toddlers play too. If anyone is interested
I will list them on trading post.
Blessings,
Stephanie
