Just a heads up: there's a new book on Shakespeare's Catholicism out. It's by Joseph Pearce, from Ignatius.
I have it in my hands--it seems fabulous! Great for moms or high schoolers. The Quest for Shakespeare
Enjoy!

It's on my wishlist! I saw him on The Journey Home, and this book was soon to be out. He is so excellent! We'll be using several of his resources during high school. One is Literary Giants, Literary Catholics, and one is Literary Converts. I bought one of them, I don't remember which, and plan to buy the others too to use through high school, and read myself!

Just sent this information to my dd who is Catholic, loves all things literary, and is studying Shakespeare. Thanks, ck and Tracy!
Love,

I read it through last week, and it was great--serious without being too scholarly and very convincing. I definitely recommend it!
Enjoy!

Interesting. I have this older book by Peter Milward Shakespeare's Religious Background that I read when I was in my early 20s, and I thought it was quite convincing. But then I heard all this criticism that it couldn't be true.
Seems Millward wrote an article revisiting this question, although I'm not paying to find out what he said.
I'm wondering if Shakespeare the Papist is the same book, new title?
Interesting Article regarding this idea
I'm glad the discussion is back on the table and I can't wait to read Pearce's book!

We have the new Milward book in the WCC library, Jenn. I can check and see if it is the same thing revamped or not, if you want?

Thanks for all of this - did not even know they were out there. My kids are getting interested in Shakespeare - this will help!
