Hi, friends. Please forward to let everyone know we're okay.
We are in Lake Clairborne National Park (north Louisiana). I'm at the public library right now and the librarians have the girls in the kitchennette feeding them crackers and cold drinks.
I'll have to be brief but wanted to let you all know that we're okay.
We got out before the storm hit and have been living in our camper with the family.
Mark, Corey, and my brother headed back to Sulphur (near Lake Charles) yesterday. They said it's a war zone...no food, no electricity, no water, no nothing. Our houses are all standing safe with missing shingles to be the worst. We lost all our pecan trees in the yard and a tree damaged my son's cabin beyond repair; but the main house is good. My parents have a hole in their roof but my uncle rode out the storm and he was going to secure it for us. Their garage was also damaged and my father's car and lawnmower are sandwiched under the roof.
Mark called this morning and told me and the kids and to stay put. The National Guard is keeping people from coming in and Mark said the town is devasted. He said you can't even recognize it and there is no gas for vehicles so coming and going is impossible. The state park is letting us stay in our camper for free and giving us free laundry service and meals served at night.
Everyone has been so nice. I cannot convey how heart-warming and beautiful people are.
Please pray for Mark, Corey, and my brother Vince, b-i-l Gerald and his whole family. They are all down there and Mark said he can't believe he didn't die of heat yesterday. It is so HOT down there and there is no water. They are living on peanut butter and bottled water.
Also, Corey is turning 18 years old on Thursday. I might not get to share the day with him and the very thought of him celebrating this b-day with just peanut butter and water breaks my heart. I don't know why that bothers me most of all. : (
I haven't tried to access my email and don't know if I can so I may not be able to retrieve messages. But thank you for the prayers. I can feel them and am at peace.
Blessings,
Cay and family

This is such great news! I am so glad they are all safe and the damage is not too severe.
We will continue to pray.

I am so glad Cay. I am in Shreveport. I wish there was a way to contact you so I can see if there is anything my family could do for yours. I am going to pm my phone number to you in case you can access the boards again.

So glad to hear ya'll are ok! I prayed for your husband and son all during the storm and I was so worried about them because the last thing I heard from you was that they were staying. I'm glad they left with you. Our electricity came back on last night and that was bad enough. I can't imagine the suffering of the people south of us. Some coastal communities have been basically "obliterated" to quote the governor. I've seen pictures of Cameron and not much is left. We often went there to fish and crab. Holly Beach is totally gone. Abbeville is under water. Our parish priest Father Randy Moreau is very good friends with the Summers who started Family Missions Company, so they were here at our parish over the weekend. Please continue to pray for the people of Louisiana. Many will have very hard times ahead. My husband just told me that our income will drastically decrease because the rigs he worked on offshore are destroyed. But thank God there are not many deaths.

Glad that your family is safe and that your home survived the storm. Will keep praying for your family
Hope you can get back home soon.
Enjoy the state park; draw in your nature notebooks!
How wonderful of them to let you stay for free!

Here's a link to Cay's blog -- House of Literature blog -- she's updated it with where they're staying etc.
Just thought y'all would like to know what Cay is up to.
Blessings and keep praying as it sounds like it might be a while before they get back home!
