Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We've been invited to a ceremony tonight in honor of the Fall of Saigon in 1975. If you were going to rabbit trail off this, what would you do?

So far I'm thinking we'll watch Good Morning, Vietnam!

A Time Life photographer will be there that was flown out with wife, kids, gardeners, maids, anyone know of a place to see Time Life photos?

Help me out, ladies...

Following on from the fall of Saigon, you could read Goodbye Vietnam by Gloria Whelan.

I haven't read it myself, but I have liked every book of hers I have seen.

We just read this new picture book - Always with You. It is the story of a little girl whose village is bombed and she loses her family and some of her eyesight. She is saved and taken to an orphanage at China Beach. Part of the illustrations are in black and white to give a feel for the loss of her sight. It is a sad story yet full of hope as well.
