Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am hoping you can help me do something that is very hard for me. I need help getting through this hard pregnancy. I really need prayer-support.

My situation is a weird one that has no real name or diagnosis...yet. We are investigating many things. And as you could guess, it is always a big waiting game to see how effective treatment can be...or waiting for more tests to be run when we exhaust the first round of ideas...etc... I blogged about it here:
my blog

I just found a Dr. (separate from my midwifery/Obgyn practice) who is "willing to think outside of the box" (lovely lady...Catholic and pro-life but not an obgyn but has that experience) and she says that if this proves to be more of an auto-immune condition, there may be an unorthodox medication that can help me...and so far our research has shown that the medication "can be safe for pregnancy" but I want to exhaust everything else at my disposal first and try to eat nutrient-dense foods, and keep up my walking and hiking (it makes me feel good)

my post? I hope it makes sense...I don't even know if it is spelled correctly and so forth because I am tired. So please bear with me.

Also, please feel free to share your difficult pregnancies in the comments section. You never know who your story might help. There are so many of us that don't get real support in everyday life. It is such a blessing to be amongst like-minded people. It is this list that gave me the courage to be a mom again.             God works in such wonderful and powerful ways through this group!
{{{{HUGS}}} Thank you!!!

God love you!

Praying for you. My very difficult pregnancy was number 5 - bed rest for six months, couldn't walk cos of hip problems, in and out of hospital.

But I found blessing in restin, in organising from the couch adn from the bed with olists and instructions for the kids   - and the kids listened to a lot of read alouds that year.

We learned to simplify.

Donna Marie, I have also had rare complications (though we knew what mine was), it had me consumed with itching that would not let me sleep. Funnily enough, it was those same hours of the night that were the worst...lots of pacing...trying to think about anything but how uncomfortable I was. With my last pregnancy I worked very hard on offering it up for my little sister who was trying to conceive after a heartbreaking loss. I begged the Lord to give me the strength to make it through if only he would send a baby her way...she got a positive pregnancy test the day after my daughter was born...God only knows the immeasurable grace He will bring into the world through you and your family's suffering through this trial. Not to mention the joy of a sweet new addition to your family. My prayers are with you.

Dear Donna - I am praying for you. During second trimester of Pregancy #3 (child 4) I had a 4-5 week period "from hell" - insomnia, adrenaline, jitters at night - they thought my thyroid/hormones had gotten knocked out of sync because I had just had the flu. I found liquid magnesium or calmag did a great job of relaxing me and helping me sleep (I used the Natural Calm products)

Donna, I'm praying for you.

This is my third pregnancy. My first pregnancy was fine. Second pregnancy I was ill for 9 months (nausea), but I managed somehow to do what I needed to do. This pregnancy however.. the nausea turned out to be hyperemesis and it totally disabled me. I have stayed in bed these four months, have only left the house for doctor visits and have not been able to take care of my girls. I'm starting to feel a little better at the moment. It has been very difficult! The overal opinion around me is that 'three pregnancies are obviously waaaaaay to much for a woman' . It is very good to have this forum.
