Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Ladies,

The board will be closed (read only) from April 30th until May 3rd for the Moderator Spring Retreat. "We Pray to the Lord" will remain open for posting.

Prayers for us while on retreat are greatly appreciated!

Mine, too, along with my heartfelt thanks for all the hard work you do.

Well, since after your last retreat you all re-arranged the areas, would it be out of line recommend changing the name of Early Childhood back to Montessori and More? If the Early Childhood board is going to be 95% Montessori stuff why not call it for what it is. I am not criticizing anything. I'm just saying that particular area is kind of misleading in its description.

Not meant as a criticism, but as a sincere question, Barbara:

If you want to discuss other EC options, why not bring them up? I kind of like the open-endedness of the current title since I do not use Montessori with my little ones (well, maybe a few ideas here and there). I would love to see more diverse discussion on that board!

The reasoning behind the change is/was an effort at trying to be more inclusive. Even if a large percent of the present conversation is Montessori related,it hasn't always been that way, and may not be that way in the future. This board has certainly seen it's ebbs and flows in the popularity of various methodologies over the years. And we don't want to exclude or discourage those who may want to explore and discuss other forms of early childhood ed, such as Letter of the Week, Funschool, Little Saints, or whatever else. Titling the board "Montessori and More," implies a certain favoritism towards Montessori methods that we do not want to perpetuate.
Please feel free to discuss any and all Early Learning ideas on that forum.

I have to say that I am always sad when the boards are closed! I totally understand the need to take a break and reevaluate how everything is going and also to respect the holiest times of our faith, but it is still lonely without you all! Luckily, this time I am going on a retreat of sorts myself, so it won't be so bad. I'll keep all the mods and everyone else in my prayers this weekend!

Blessings,
Betsie

Nope. You cannot close the boards while my dh goes out of town.

Not allowed. Nope. Nuh-uh. I expressly forbid it.

OK, seriously, you will all be in my prayers.

Amy......you could go PM-happy!

I miss the boards, too, when they are not available.....in fact, I miss them EVERY Saturday night.......esp when they go off in the middle of a post!

Being on Pacific Standard Time means I miss out early.

...of course.......I get to write on Sunday night before all of you wake up

I am so sorry it does not coincide well with your dh being oot, though!

When that happens to me, I just write posts in my email program, and copy and paste when things DO open. That helps me a lot!

Yes, PM function still works even when the forums are closed (like on Sundays).

Hee-hee! I used to say cool beans all the time! I think I'll have to start again! This makes me less sad about the boards closing.
