Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Do you use espresso or regular coffee?

I am getting hooked on Panera's Cafe Mocha, and I need to stop.

I've got an old post here on cafe mocha, Mary Chris. Scroll past the chatter to about halfway down the page to see my recipe. I don't blame you at all -- they're addictive!!

I use espresso. Mine never tastes as yummy chocolatey as the Panera ones do. But, Stef, I had never thought do make one the way you do. Hmmm... might have to try adding a hint of vanilla in it.

We use espresso and have had great results for latte and mocha, which my dh and older dc enjoy. I generally just add more boiling water for an Americano. Much cheaper and more immediately available than going to Starbucks! (Getting it when and how you like it is essential for those who are addicted! )

Peace,
Nancy

You can make lots of flavored syrups, if mocha is not your thing    Simple syrup with flavorings. This recipe is pretty easy, just adjust the amount of extracts to get what you like, and then you can use as much or little as you want in your latte!

Boil 2 cups of cold water. Stir in 2 cups of granulated sugar. Turn the heat to low and stir constantly until the sugar dissolves completely.

You can use this (simple syrup) as is, or add flavorings; about a tablespoon of any liquid extract. If you stir in 1 tablespoon corn syrup it will help the syrup stays smooth.

Cool to room temperature, then pour into a glass jar and store in the refrigerator.

Does anyone live close enough for me to stop by for a latte?

Tina,

I'll meet you at Stef's house! Thank you all for the great ideas. I don't think I'm going to be losing any weight though. I guess they'll just be for special occasions.

I'll meet you somewhere to sip a latte with you, and someday I suppose I too should make my own at home. However, in my own defense (LOL), it's a special little ritual and simple pleasure for me to get out and have one, a sweet feast of delight with someone else making it for me. Isn't always just perfect when someone else makes it anyway, kind of like making a salad at home? LOL Yeppers, if you know me, I love my lattes and my children think I'm nuts because I even take pictures of them and upload the pics to my blog! Jeepers, but they have no idea how "special" this is! Right? So, when and where.... ;-)

I haven't had much luck with hot coffee drinks, but I did post once a frozen coffee recipe for summertime here. If I wasn't pregnant, I'd be drinking WAY more coffee. Looking forward to trying Stef's recipe, thanks!

I made this today and it was, shall we say......yummilicious? I was so happy to find one I could make that didn't have corn syrup (I'm allergic) in it like those in mixes or stores. Of course, there goes that method of losing any weight
