Would you please say a prayer for my 5yo son? Yesterday he stepped on a old piece of wood with a rusty nail (yes, his tetanus is up to date) in it. Within 3 hours it was so swollen with infection he couldn't even walk on it. I took him in this a.m. to our wonderful Catholic GP who put him on an antibiotic straight-away. He warned me that if there isn't improvement by tomorrow at our 4 pm appointment with him, my little guy will need an overnight in the hospital & surgery to remove the infection.
We have NO insurance and we're already struggling financially, this would totally sink us. We will do what needs to be done for our sweet boy, but this would really be the nail in the coffin.
I so appreciate your prayers, my dh who is normally an upbeat guy is really struggling with our financial problems. Last night he was reluctant to say yet another novena to St. Joseph, he feels as if his prayers are bouncing off the ceiling and not penetrating heaven. Today's news really upset him.
Please pray for my little Toby and his Daddy.
Thank you.

Update:
The doctor wasn't pleased with what he saw. Yesterday, he had drawn a line at the end of the swollen, red, infected area, as of today, the red puffiness has extended about an inch past that mark. I pleaded for more time on the antibiotics and he graciously offered to come to the house (I love my doctor, he's a Catholic totally pro-life doc and future h/s dad too) as he was coming out my way anyway tomorrow. So, he will reexamine him tomorrow a.m. and make the final decision then.
Frankly, it doesn't look good. If Toby must go in the hospital they will first try an intravenous antibiotic for 24 hours, if he still doesn't respond to that, then they will go in surgically to remove the infection.
He has been such a little trooper about it all. All his brothers and sisters are gathered about him and are so protective and caring for his every need.
My dh is still really struggling. He says he feels he has failed his family financially and it's really bringing him down. Please keep him in your prayers along with Toby.
I can't tell you how much I appreciate all the prayers.

Update #2
Our dear, sweet, wonderful doctor (did I mention how much I LOVE our GP?) came out to the house today and checked Toby out. He said his foot looks better then yesterday and he can't justify admitting him to the hospital today!! He said to keep the foot elevated and if there are any changes for the worse to call him right away, but as of right now he believes the antibiotics are working.
We are so thankful, it makes our financial troubles seem so small and manageable compared to the health of our dear boy. My dh said he was actually glad to be going to work today as it meant Tobe's wasn't going to be in the hospital.
I am so, so, very grateful for all the prayers and support from all of you. What a comfort it is to have the prayers of such dear, holy women such as all of you.
Thank you!

Update:
Toby finished his second round of antibiotics 2 days ago and today his foot is extremely sore to the touch and he won't put much weight on it. I have to call the doctor in the morning and see about getting the foot x-rayed and surgery. We have no medical insurance and we're fighting foreclosure. As of right now we are literally down to our last $75 until payday.
I am trying so hard to trust but I feel like I'm sitting on a proverbial dung hill. The other things I could post asking prayers for! There is so much being thrown our way right now; I'm just picking the top two.
I am very tired, I want to cry "uncle" but I am trusting that God has a purpose and we will only grow in holiness through all these trials.
Please pray for my Toby.

Maddie:
Praying for your little boy. Also, when ds of ours did something similiar and couldn't even let his leg dangle, someone mentioned epsom salts to me. We soaked the foot in epsom salts, changing the water every 20 minutes and within 24 hours we really had remarkable improvement. We did do some homeopathy, too along with the antibiotic and the epsom salts. It was frightening.

I will pray for you...
My husband just had a cut get infected. I had him soak it in salt water and I used this tea bag remedy. It really seemed to work well for us (albeit it wasn't as serious as your case).
I hope that helps and you can avoid any more Dr. bill's...
