Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have been LOVING what I have seen at the LaPazfarm blog. Is there a book that has the math method for montessori laid out? I don't know that I could be that creative and prepared on my own with math, but I would love to be...Thanks in advance.

After formal training, Montessori educators begin to make their own albums - collections of all the presentations they have done in each subject area. It's only been fairly recently that these albums have become more standardized and available to the public.

here's a link to a rare example of an album you can see on-line. You can also buy albums on-line.

I personally got my albums from a "class" on-line given by Karen Taylor. See here.

The MWEI link happymama provided is a good one. The most popular albums for purchase are the Montessori Research and Development albums, or the NAMC (?) albums. If you do a search here you should be able to pull up some threads comparing the two.But these can be pretty overwhelming if you are new to the method.
For little ones, you could get the Gettman book called Basic Montessori, which has good descriptions of many of the early math presentations. I really liked this book.
Also, ask here and we will help if we can!

Re: older kids

Yes, just keep in mind that most of what you will find is aimed at the 3-6 age group (though you can also buy albums for the next level.) I think Gettman's Basic Montessori is definitely for this younger age group (I also really like that book!)

The main "requirements" are (1) it's a material that involves movement with the hand ("mani" - manipulatives) and (2) it's self-correcting. The child should be able to check and correct his own work. Good luck!
