Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm embarrassed to ask this question, but, here it is:

With four littles, what fun/educational things are there to do around here? I was getting the itch to go somewhere fun while watching Jon and Kate plus 8 lately, where they're taking all their kids to fun, hands-on places, and I'm drawing blanks on places around here.

Its got to be the sleep deprivation, seriously!

We're heading to the National Zoo this Friday. And plan on making it to Mount Vernon again soon (to make use of our yearly memberships that will expire shortly). But we're really into animals at this time in our lives. We'll probably have to make it to the Air and Space museum again, too, because anything big with an engine is super cool.

Depends where you are and how much you like to drive?

Check out Our Kids - you do not have to be a member to check out all the stuff going on.

things you might consider

1) Farms - eg Kidwell Farm
2) Zoo - I usually do this with dh - drive and walking is a lot
3) Orchards and fruit picking - several in the area
4) Colvin Run Mill - free concerts, times with the miller etc
5) Wolf Trap - performances for kids in the summer
6) Arts in the Parks - free concerts for kids in Fairfax County Parks
7) Do you live near any of the Rec centers in Fairfax County - they have nature programs etc
8)DC Museums or Air and Space in Dulles - I only do DC with dh - but the Air and Space locally is easy enough alone with kids
9) Programs in libraries
10)Sully Plantation
11) Mount Vernon - I only do with dh
12) Seasonal outdoors - blubells at Bull Run, leaves in the Shenandoah
13) Claude Moore Colonial Farm in McLean

Just some ideas - I did a lot of these when my oldest 3 were preschool age - with different ages it is more difficult.
