OK, here goes. Maryan tells us this about herself (sorry, I have no idea how to do that snip thing...you are stuck with colors):
1. I'm a NOVA transplant from CT. (I came down to teach and did so for 9 years before getting married in 2000).
2. I'm chatty with a loud laugh and a passion for coffee... and ice cream... with whipped cream.
3. I love the liturgical year -- mostly the celebration aspect of it. The penitential aspect? Notso good. Working on that.
4. I'm married to a basketball coach... and we talk a lot of sports at my house. Family pools for the NCAA tournament abound.
5. JennGM and I (before we both got married) worked on a musical together and her sister Fuzzy was in it!!
OK...time to connect yourself to Maryan.
My connection is...family pools at Maryan's house HAVE to involve my beloved Bruins, playing (and losing ) right now. I went to UCLA long ago, in a galaxy far, far away, but I still loyally support my team.
What say you?
(No fair using "I'm Catholic" or "I homeschool" - that kind of comes with the territory.)
It IS fair to connect yourself via another 4Real member; for example, if you don't like coffee, but you have something in common with another member here who DOES like coffee, you can connect to Maryan through her.
P.S. - Maryan, I am not trying to embarrass you or put you on the spot. Everyone's enjoying your original thread so much I thought I'd create an add-on.

Hmmm, I posted some on the other thread...but here's a recap:
I've met Maryan and she is lovely. And I will try to overcome being shy to get to visit with her more...she lives about 10 minutes away from me. Jenn also lives near me...and I will overcome shyness for her as well...I promise.
I've met the boys and wish I could come over and play with them...so does my daughter Lilly who also has met the boys.
I took her dinner.
My son went to her husband's basketball camp. And is counting down the days to go again.
Her FIL coordinates altar boys at my parish. Sam got confused one training when they said Mrs. VW was there and he didn't see Maryan... I had to explain they were referring to her MIL.
There's probably more because we probably know many of the same people through All Saints and some of the Seton families I know.
And probably many parish connections with other 4Realers because of her BIL.

I am very blessed to have Maryan's brother-in-law as our pastor! Fr. Vander Woude has been an incredible blessing to our parish and to our family in particular! Please thank his mother and father for us, Maryan!
Maryan, you are a very good sport for being put on the spot like this! It is fun to see how interconnected that we really all are!

3. Maryan writes for Faith and Family.
HAH -- did it in 3

You guys are funny!! And Nancy this is the first time I've ever played this game. I had to ask what it was!
That was clever Paula!! I guess that saves you a trip into Minneapolis to meet my friend Fr. Pavlik!!
And Maria made me a lovely babymoon dinner!! All of favs: texmex, salad, fruit, cheese sticks, cookies... I was so grateful!! And wrote a thank you note, and sealed it and addresssed it, and it's on my desk ... lacking a stamp. Please, please please forgive me. Really it is coming!!
And I will thank the VW's - I'm very grateful to them too!

I have to confess, long before the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon game came along - years before - my dh and his roommate, who's now a respected Hollywood cinematographer, invented a similar game, but the aim was to connect two randomly-selected film people (such as John Wayne and Jodie Foster) using actors, films and directors, within six moves. When the Kevin Bacon game became popular, it was old hat at our place; dh and David had been playing their own game for years.

Paula, he's so much fun. Very dry wit.
Which reminds me, that other thread Regional Cookbooks -- there is one for your region. Father always jokes about bars and jello molds all the church ladies from MN make. Although Lutheran, this one fits the bill:
Lutheran Church Basement Women Cookbook by Martin, Janet & Todnem, Allen

That's neat!
In our house we it's six degrees to Pittsburgh Steelers or Penn State Football. It's not a game -- it's life.

Kacky is the best to banter with!!
About my loud laugh... it really is loud.
A local Catholic high school opened their dress rehearsal to the Catholic school 8th graders. So I took my 8th grade girls to see "Much Ado About Nothing" -- and I loved it and I was laughing hysterically.
The girls were embarrassed because other 8th graders were looking at me and then them... (I was laughing too hard to notice)... and asked who I was.
One of my girls whispered to them: "We don't know her."
They confessed in the van on the way back.

My dh has the same sort of laugh (volume/uniqueness wise ) and can get the exact same reaction Maryan talked about. In fact, when we starting dating, his friends at work use to ask me how could I stand to be with him for a long time...I loved it! And I so love knowing someone else who has a unique laugh too. My dd has a good friend, at 13, who also has a similar sort of laugh. I think laughs are really telling, and these three, although very different - a mom- a dad - a teenager - all so love to be with people and listen to them and can find happiness in more places than most.
Okay...that's my pathetic attempt at talking about the psychology of a "laugh"...what do I know...I'm a philosophy major

Cheshire... a CT town that's home to three Dunkin Donuts, a Legionnaires of Christ Seminary, three Catholic Churches, and my family.
Where did you grow up Susan?

Well I know Maryan.
Here are someother 6 degrees with I share with others.
Erika , CAgirl4God and I worked at the same summer camp in California.
My mom dated a cimetographer. I know I can't spell.
I lived in the same neighborhood that Chari did for a short time, but we figured out we went to different schools.
I also went to the same school that Lorrie, MacandCheese chronicles, did. My cousin was in the same class as one of her cousins.
Cindy Mac is staying at my house and taking care of my psychotic dog at the moment. Irene and her girls sometimes come and play with my psychotic dog. Kacky apparently is not allergic to my psychotic dog, we kept that a secret. Or I have a good vacuum cleaner which connects me to all you other dyson owners.
I think there are more but I gotta go before my family unplugs me forever!
