Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

What are my options for FHC prep other then CHC? I don't really want to buy the $40 lesson plan when I only need the FHC supplement. For 1st grade, we are reading through St. Joseph First Comm. Cat., reading the children's Bible (Bible History) from CHC and studying the 10 commandments. What is next?

All that you are doing certainly sounds great! We use the First Communion Catechism and and the Bible, and we also added reading "King of the Golden City" (available through CHC), and the First Communion book from St. Francis books (http://www.stfrancisbooks.com/).
BTW, we also have the First Confession book they publish as well. Both are very nice. Other than that, we discussed the parts of the Mass and stressed Jesus present in the Eucharist. If I think of anything else, I'll post it later

God bless,
Christine

That is pretty much what I have done to prepare four children for their Reconciliation and FHC. The St Joseph First Communion Catechism, and I like to read Bl Imelda Lambertini (Vision have one) and St Tarcisus stories. For the last child I tried a FHC notebook (click on search here lots of ideas) but it was a lot of work. For my daughter this year I am trying 'Jesus and I' by Fr Aloysius J Heeg, very short doable lessons. I read a great review by Margaret, thought what a great book and then realised I owned it and had never used it I am now

Whenever I panic I think about Pius X interviewing the little 4 year old who wanted to make his Communion, when the Holy Father asked him 'Who was it?', he answered 'Jesus; and the Holy Father gave him his FHC the next morning. Mainly it is about kindling a love and passion for Our Lord. I always panic more about Reconciliation. Trying to get a seven year old to remember the 10 commandments and understand.
