I have been wanting another child for 5 years (just shortly before coming into the Church, I used to be an Evangelical). We have 3 kids right now, 18, 11, and 8 (and one in Heaven, miscarried at 10 weeks between the 11 and 8 year old). Initially, my dh was dead set against anymore kids. So, being newly Catholic, we used nfp to avoid pregnancy.
Then I stopped charting about 3 years in because I was getting severely heart broken every time I watched my fertile time pass, knowing nothing would happen. I told dh I just couldn't chart anymore. I was too sad. I didn't want to look at that chart anymore, everyday and just become more and more sad. Shortly afterwards, my dh said he wasn't against another child anymore, just ambivalent. If it happened it happened, but he wasn't going to actively try.
Well, it's 2 years later and nothing. I have prayed to tears about this, taken it to Adoration, offered it at Mass. I had a total breakdown over it last Summer when a friend with 3 kids (who is also a convert) got pregnant at 40 after her husband had a v-reversal. I will be 42 next month and it is just staring me in the face again that I am getting older and losing time for another baby.
I love being a mom and I love babies and I am not ready to call it quits yet. Please pray that God would grant us another child or take away this desire. It is becoming unbearable.
Thanks and God Bless,
Rachel R.

Praying for you, Rachel, with empathy. Our second child was born nearly 6 years after our first, and it took us a very long time to conceive her.
Especially, I will pray for peace for you. It's so hard to wake up to sadness every day.
I think you'll find a lot of understanding here...

Rachel,
I'm offering up many prayers for the ache in your heart for another little one. I understand that feeling well.
I don't know if it's a possible consideration for you or your dh, but adoption is a beautiful gift. We leave on Wednesday to bring home our 2nd adopted daughter from China. I'm also 42 and my dh is 45.
By the way, we're naming her Rachel. You can follow our journey at www.journeytome.com click on journals. The username/password is RachelR.

Oh dear Rachel . You are suffering so. Thank you for trusting us with your suffering. I had my John Paul when I was 41, after 6 years of waiting. I'm 44 now and would be happy to conceive again. I am praying for you. You may also find comfort in A Mother's Garden of Sorrows.
Love,

Rachael I will be praying that you will be blessed with a baby, I'll put your name on my St Anne list in front of my little statue of her. St Anne is a beautiful patron as she experienced these same feelings and desires for new life so she is powerful intercessor!

Rachel, I will be praying for you. Here is a prayer to Our Lady of La leche for another baby.
Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my Mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Saviour. Intercede with Him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
