Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Any do these with their children? You can order here.

Well, Molly, we did last year with MaryM's kids -- we each did two but one of my blew up and the second one "dropped" and broke. Then 8yod made a beautiful one and MaryM and her daughter did gorgeous eggs! (The boys just played and had fun otherwise).

It IS a lot of work but quite fun -- especially if you don't mind breaking one or two.....

Here's a link to the blog post last year which has some pictures and more notes ....

I haven't tried it with my son yet, but the Ukrainians I know start at a very young age. At the workshop I've attended there were boys, from young age of 4 or 5 to about mid teens who were cranking out the pysanky. The oldest's eggs were gorgeous.

Many pysanky writers use hollow egg shells to write their pysanky. They plug up the holes with wax to dye, and weigh them down with a spoon or something. That might help alleviate some breakage?
