Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi Ladies

I just purchased some really beautiful rubber stamps of a Catholic nature to use for cards. I am interested in doing something other than plain black ink, something really lovely. A long time ago I went to a stampin up demonstration and I remember the embossing technique and nice it looked. What would I *really* need to make this happen? How truly necessary is the heating tool? Why wouldn't I be able to use a blow dryer? Do I need special ink? Where can I get the best price for the embossing powder? I don't want to get into a full blown hobby, but I would like to make something with these beautiful stamps!

Thanks!

It is pretty important. It can be done in other ways (light bulb, toaster oven) but not a blow drier - the blow drier cannot concentrate the heat so exactly to one point and it literally would blow the powder away before it could melt it. With a coupon at one of the craft stores you can get the heat tool for a decent price and it is sturdy and long lasting - you get your money's worth.

Pigment ink (not dye ink) is needed.

As you said if it isn't something that you want to get into full blown - I would just go with the embossing powders from the craft store. They often go on sale or you can use the coupons.
