Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Yesterday the weather was in the 60's. Right now it's snowing! It's been snowing for the last 2 hours! My kids are so excited! I know many of you all are sick of snow, but this is the first substantial snow (and only snow of course) of the season for us.

And one week ago today, my kids were coming inside telling me it was too hot to play outside. Our thermometer was registering 91! Let's not forget the tornado threats and the hail!

Ahhhhh...spring time in Texas!

Last night I thought I'd never get to sleep! Ds came down at 1:30am and then my dd woke up at 5am (due to all the rain and thunder) and was up for the day! We haven't had a storm like that in quite awhile! I prefer the silent snow! Hopefully there will be something left for the kiddos to play in tomorrow morning...but not at 5am!

We were reading about the signers of the Texas Declaration of Independence today since it was Texas Independence Day yesterday and came across this passage:

Early arrivals who reached Washington at the end of February had been bedding down in their shirtsleeves, but in the wee hours of the appointed day, March 1, they awoke with universal imprecations against the norther that roared through during the night and dropped the thermometer to thirty-three degrees. The forty-four delegates who assembled that morning shook and shivered in the Mercer-Byars house, discovering it still unfinished, prey to the elements, with nothing but sheets stretched over the windows to block the worst of the wind.

I looked at the kids and said, "See...Texas then and Texas now. Not much different!" Yesterday they were wearing short sleeved T shirts and today they were shivering!!!

Yes! This wacky weather is enough to drive one crazy! First, it's been a colder than normal winter. Now, it can't decide whether to be spring or winter. Brrr....
