Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I just thought I would share a warning from a news story that I read. The ds swallowed a lego post caused me to remember this. Swallowing little magnetic toys can be a really bad, bad thing. The first one will pass but if a second one is swallowed the too magnets can stick to each other in the intestines and cause a blockage. We had a lot of magnetic toy sets because I thought that they were small and easily contained but now I am in a panic about them and constantly yelling at the kids to pick them all up.

I'm wondering how the HD revolution will effect children's toys. From the subject line, I thought this post was going to be about the havoc magnetic toys can have on HD televisions. We try to eliminate as many magnetic toys has possible or keep them upstairs (and away from the television).

You're right, though, Holly. A lot of the recent toy recalls have had less to do with led and more to do with little magnets falling out of toys.

This actually happned to my son who was 3 at the time. He swallowed 3 tiny magnets and it wasn't that they caused blockage but as they stuck together they made tiny holes in his intestines. Needless to say it was horrible. He had to have surgery and spent a couple of days in ICU with sepsis afterwards...three weeks total at Children's hospital...due to one infection after another. This is VERY serious...please keep all magnets away from your children. The ones my son swallowed were not from toys either...but small magnets that we had on our fridge with their art work...I just had never heard of this and didn't know to remove them at the time.
